Barroso Honored for 20 Years of Service

Key West Fire Chief Michael Davila presented Capt. Gregory Barroso a gold watch in honor of his 20 years of service to the City during last night’s City Commission meeting.

Capt. Barroso started as a firefighter in 1996, and was promoted to a driver/engineer in 2008. In 2013 he moved to the Fire Marshal’s office where he became a captain/ inspector.

“Greg just last year was the lead instructor and a driving force behind the great Key West Fire Department success story that is the Key West High School Fire Academy,” said Chief Davila. “He helped give direction to students who will be the future for our island.”

Chief Davila continue, “He comes from a great and proud Key West Conch family known for their civic service.”

Capt. Barroso thanked his family, many of whom were in attendance, as well as his colleagues. He also thanked the commission for providing the support and resources necessary to maintain an outstanding fire department.

“I am so proud to be a member of the Key West Fire Department,” he said.
