The funds were raised by NOW at a February celebration of Connie Gilbert’s life, featuring raffles, drawings, silent auctions and an orchid auction.  Gilbert founded the local NOW chapter and is remembered by the Keys community for her commitment to the fight for social justice, patronage of the arts, and performance in local theatrical productions.  She was also an accomplished writer, publishing many works of fiction, poetry and journalism.
