Officer T. Calvert responded to the White Street Pier on Tuesday at about 5:30 pm, in reference to a report of a package that was floating in the water and was suspected to be a bale of marijuana.  The package was about twelve inches by twelve inches and about 3 inches thick.

Key West Fire Department arrived and assisted Calvert  in lifting the bail of suspected marijuana out of the water.

The bail, soaked in seawater, reportedly weighed 11.8 pounds. Calvert reported he did not field test the marijuana because it was wet.

The estimated value of the marijuana was listed at $5,000.

KWPD Officer Malgrat notified Agent Todd Blythe, of Homeland Security about the find.
