Duck Key, FL– Angler & Ale, the new marina restaurant at Hawks Cay Resort, participated in the Taste of the Islands event in Marathon, Fla. on Nov. 12, 2016 and won the People’s Choice Award for its quail with polenta cake and warm bread pudding with caramelized bananas dishes.
The restaurant team – led by the resort’s executive chef, William Ryan – participated in the event, which is an annual fundraiser for Business & Professional Women of Marathon. The event showcases local food, art and entertainment and brings thousands of locals and visitors to the area. There were more than 2,000 guests in attendance, many of which voted for the restaurant, resulting in the restaurant’s nomination.
“We’re the new kids on the block, so being recognized by local community feels great,” said Executive Chef William Ryan. “The award is a testament to the dedication our culinary team has put in to deliver a menu that showcases the Florida Keys.”
Angler & Ale, which opened in May, boasts a menu that includes Florida Keys classics, such as Broiled Florida Lobster and Whole Roasted Snapper, as well as dishes with a unique spin like the Shrimp & Lobster Burger, Crispy Grouper Cheeks and Tuna Nachos. The restaurant also features a ‘Hook N Cook’ option where guests can bring in their fresh catch and have the chef cook it up.
