Student Finn Hickey, teacher Sally Zeman and Mayor Craig Cates.

Mayor Craig Cates last week commended Montessori Children’s School art teacher Sally Zeman for her dedication and service to the children of Key West.

Her student Finn Hickey entered the City’s Recycled Robot Art Contest in November, and his entry was one of the winners. The commendation notes that Ms. Zeman, through efforts like the art contest, “motivates her students to be involved and participate in afterschool projects like the City of Key West Recycled Robot Art Contest.”

They learn about the key link between our island city and the environment, and she helps them look for ways to repurpose and reuse with an eye toward a sustainable future.

The Mayor’s commendation salutes Ms. Zeman for the extra hours she invests in her students and her commitment to excellence.
