KWAHS Wreckers Camp

Key West Art & Historical Society ArtCamp! Wreckers Camp student Sage Lever-Russell, 10 (far left), uses a boathook on Wednesday to retrieve a ‘sunken’ ship recovered with a salvage rig operated by fellow students (second from left to right) Anthony Korzen, 11, Jackson Santelli, 6, and Nya Lever-Russell, 7, with the assistance of ArtCamp! instructor Kevin Lisinski. From June 26 through June 30, children learned about the tools and apparatus used in historic shipwreck salvage and built tripods, swingarms and sling carts to conduct salvage operations.
