Residents at Monroe County’s Bayshore Manor assisted living facility on College Road in Key West got into the Thanksgiving spirit and created cheerful meal bags for Star of the Sea (SoS) Outreach Mission.

Now, when needy Monroe County citizens visit the mission’s food pantry for the holiday, they can put the goods into the decorated and festive bags that have been lovingly made by our residents.

This annual project brings joy to the visitors of the food pantry — people of low income, disabled, elderly or struggling parents with children. Tom Callahan of SoS Outreach Mission said this kindness shows the pantry’s visitors that others in the community care about them.

Sheryl Graham, senior director of Monroe County Social Services, said this project also brings joy to the Bayshore Manor residents who are happy to put smiles on other people’s faces at the start of the giving season.
