Volunteers Needed for the I Love Stock Island Spring Clean Up on Earth Day, April 22nd
The I Love Stock Island (ILSI) Initiative will hold their Take Stock in the Rock Spring Clean-up on Saturday, April 22nd from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Volunteers may check in at Monroe County Fire Rescue Station #8 – Stock Island at 5655 MacDonald Avenue for gloves, bags and assignments. ILSI is teaming up with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Code Enforcement dept., Solid Waste & Public Works departments and Waste Management to help keep Stock Island a better place to live, work and play. The clean-up will focus on removing litter from the right-of-way’s on 1st, 2nd and 3rd Avenues, 1st, 2nd and Front Streets, Laurel, MacDonald and Maloney Avenues. Volunteers are encouraged to wear close-toed shoes and bring plenty of sunscreen. This is not a bulk item clean-up, for free residential pickup of non-hazardous bulk items any time including mattresses, furniture, white goods and more call Waste Management at 305-296-8297.
