Tropical Fruit Fiesta Posted on June 30, 2017 by Contributed Ashley Maxine Kamen of Key West and Kate Peters of Richmond, VA, sample fresh fruits at Saturday’s Tropical Fruit Fiesta, held at the Truman Little White House in Key West. The event, hosted by Truman Little White House, Grimal Grove and UF/IFAS Monroe County Extension Service, included an abundance of tropical fruits and tropical fruit trees for sale, expert speakers, a cooking demo, live music and children’s play area. The Marathon-based Irie Island Eats team, left to right, Jolene Allen, Natalie Allen, chef/owner Chris Lordi and Nick Allen, brought their feast-mobile of island-inspired delectables to Key West on Saturday for the Tropical Fruit Fiesta. Austin Daly shows a box of Rambutan fruit, a close relative of the lychee fruit, during Saturday’s Tropical Fruit Fiesta. Alicia Murchie, Recycling & Waste Reduction Specialist for Monroe County, and Dee Dee Green, Solid Waste Coordinator for the City of Key West, joined forces to promote recycling at Saturday’s Tropical Fruit Fiesta.
