Thursday, February 25, at 9:30 a.m., Key West Library’s Café con Libros program welcomes historic shipwreck professional Carol Tedesco, who will give a 50 minute PowerPoint presentation on Florida’s 1622 Fleet shipwrecks, covering where they were coming from, where they were going, and why.

An internationally recognized treasure coin expert and author, Tedesco’s presentation will include an in-depth “everything you wanted to know” tutorial about the legendary silver “pieces of eight” treasure coins from the 1622 Fleet shipwrecks and invites those who wish to know more about their own coins to bring them to the presentation. She will also share information about coins discovered on her latest project, Panama’s 1631 San Jose shipwreck, whose coins originated from the same mints as those of Florida’s 1622 shipwrecks, but carry their story forward by another nine years. Doors will open at 9:30 for coffee and pastries; the PowerPoint presentation begins at 10:00 a.m.
