Teacher and Librarian Scholarship Deadline is June 15
The Key West Literary Seminar is offering full scholarships to teachers and librarians from around the country to attend this year’s Seminar, “Writers of the Caribbean,” held January 11-14, 2018, at the San Carlos Institute in Key West. The deadline for submissions is Thursday, June 15.
Scholarship packages include a full waiver of the Seminar registration fee of $575 and need-based financial assistance to offset lodging costs. Scholarships for local teachers and librarians are also available through arrangements with the Key West Public Library, Key West High School, and Florida Keys Community College. Ideal applicants should be making positive impacts upon readers in their communities. More information and the application can be found online at: kwls.org.
Scholarship recipients will gain exposure to contemporary authors and texts, expand their professional network of teachers, librarians, and writers, and be inspired to bring new ideas to the institutions and communities they serve. Through tours of the Key West Public Library and its archives and visits to historical sites, they will engage with local resources and history that animate the mission of the Key West Literary Seminar.
Since 2008, the Key West Literary Seminar has provided 430 individuals with more than $405,000 in fee waivers and lodging and travel assistance. Scholarships are made possible by more than one hundred individual donors and generous support from Judy Blume’s Kids Fund.
