Don’t understand what is happening with the City’s tree canopy?  Hear Karen DeMaria present “The City of Key West Tree Ordinance – Fact vs. Fiction” at the Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden. Our Urban Forester will speak on Saturday, March 17th from 1:30 – 2:30pm in the Garden Chapel, located just over Cow Key Bridge on College Road.  Come for the monthly native plant sale and stay for the talk.  Program is Free for members and students; $5 for others.  Call 305-296-1504 for information.

Karen Kennedy DeMaria has held the position of Urban Forester for the past 5 years.  Ms. DeMaria has dual degrees in Biology and Marine Biology and has previously worked with the State of Florida, the US Army Corps of Engineers, the Fish and Wildlife Research Institute, and numerous engineering and consulting firms.   She has been a resident of the Lower Florida Keys since 1989 and has volunteered as a Girl Scout leader, Relay for Life volunteer, and mentor with Take Stock in Children.
