Man Arrested for Robbery with a Knife
A Stock Island man was arrested on Thursday, June 30, charged with threatening the clerk at a convenience store with a knife, demanding she give him money.
The clerk told deputy Wendy Negron she was working at the Stock Island Chevron convenience store Wednesday night just before midnight when a man walked in. He walked up the counter, pulled out a filet knife and demanded she give him money. The clerk refused. He demanded the money again and she refused, telling him if he was going to stab her, go ahead. At that point, the man left, riding away on a bicycle.
The clerk reported the incident to her supervisor. After reviewing the video this morning, the store manager called the Sheriff’s Office to report it. Pictures of the suspect captured from the video were taken to several locations on Stock Island. Several people identified the suspect as 49 year old Rodney Scott Santana.
Santana was located at Safe Harbor Seafood on Front Street, Stock Island by Detective Sgt. David Smith and Detective John Gabay. He was arrested, charged with robbery with a weapon and taken to jail.
