Tickets are now on sale for Krik? Krak! an evening of Haitian music, stories, food and dance, presented at The Studios of Key West on Friday, November 4 at 7pm. It features Miami’s prominent Haitian gospel band Revelation Mizik, as well as Key West’s own 15-piece Haitian supergroup L’Orchestre les Christophiles, and paintings by Jean-Paul Willy. Tickets are $30, $25 mbrs., and include a delicious Haitian dinner catered by Mo’s Restaurant.

The name Krik? Krak! derives from a Haitian call and response tradition, and is a name given to folk festivals in the island nation. Traditionally, a storyteller stands and says “Krik?,” to which the audience replies “Krak!” and then the story begins.

After a traditional Haitian meal, served buffet style, storytellers and poets will read and present from the stage. Finally, the tables will be cleared for a dance party courtesy of Revelation Mizik and L’Orchestre les Christophiles. Meanwhile, an exhibition of Haitian paintings by Jean-Paul Willy fills the Zabar Lobby Gallery.

Funded by a 20/20 Vision Grant from the Community Foundation of the Florida Keys.
