Keep Cool at Fort East Martello’s Museum Store Shopping Party
Shopping local goes a long way in Key West, especially when your purchase helps support a museum and its mission while garnering you discounts. Key West Art & Historical Society welcomes the public on Friday, September 15 to a shopping party with refreshments and exclusive discounts for members and their friends in the Fort East Martello Museum store, located at 3501 South Roosevelt Boulevard. The discounts will be available during the museum store’s regular business hours, from 9:30am-4:30pm with refreshments served from 11am-1pm.
The shopping party, which offers a 30% discount for members and 10% discount for their non-member friends is a way for Key West Art & Historical Society to thank members for their continued support, and invite new ones to explore their museums and museum stores. Friends of members who become Society members at the party will qualify for the 30% discount on the spot.
The Fort East Martello Museum store and The Society’s other two museum stores (Custom House Museum and Key West Lighthouse and Keeper’s Quarters) feature a wide selection of fun, functional and fabulous wonders carefully curated to bring you the essence and history of Key West. Each store features items that “compliment or are in conjunction with our various exhibits, artifacts and art,” says Dan Ayers-Price, The Society’s Director of Retail Operations and the Florida Chapter President of the Museum Store Association.
Ayers-Price points out that museum stores tend to carry high-end, unique, culturally significant, or handmade items merchandised so they “continue the story of the museum exhibits.” We carry a broad range of items to fit every budget and are proud to have local artists and authors represented,” says Ayers-Price. “We strive for items that are either made locally, regionally or USA made. Handcrafted, recycled materials and fair trade items are also becoming more and more popular. We are also very proud to be members of the international Museum Store Association, linking us with my counterparts from around the world.”
Purchases made at all Society museum stores support their exhibitions and educational programming. Show your membership card on any day to receive a 20% discount, and a 30% discount during the membership shopping party.
