Join Us for America Recycles Day
On November 19th the City of Key West invites you to celebrate America Recycles Day at the Key West Recycles Day Fair and Art Contest at the Key West Tropical Forest and Botanical Gardens from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Come out and enjoy this free event and visit booths with local environmental groups, reused and recycled art displays, recycle booths and concessions. Items for reuse and recycling will also be collected, such as: Blankets, towels, canned goods, books, art supplies, travel toiletries, old medications, old flares and fireworks, and plastic bags. Cigarette waste (the butts, ashes, cellophane) will also be collected to be recycled with the TeraCycle Recycling Brigade!
There will also be a Recycled Robot Art Contest that will take place in the Garden Chapel from 10 a.m. until noon. Students ages five to 18 from public, private and home schools are all welcome to enter. Sculptures must be fabricated from 100 percent reused, recycled, or found materials (excluding tape, staples, glue, paint, nails, screws, etc.) All art must be free standing and secure. There are prizes, and the winners of each category receive a $25 gift card for the student and $100 gift card for the classroom or school, courtesy of Waste Management!
