Surviving Wind and Flood (Insurance in Monroe County) – FIRM Annual Meeting on March 3

On March 3, learn what you can do to hold down insurance rates for windstorm and flood insurance coverage in Monroe County. Fair Insurance Rates in Monroe (FIRM) concludes its series of annual meetings across the county in Key West from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at BOCC Chambers, Harvey Government Center, 1200 Truman Avenue, in Key West.

Topics for the interactive session will include legislative agendas regarding Citizens Property Insurance and Federal Emergency Management Agency, as well as ongoing efforts to protect our homes and businesses, including a comprehensive vulnerability study and a new non-profit educational arm. FIRM President Mel Montagne and Vice President Heather Carruthers will provide updates on FIRM’s progress towards securing fair flood and windstorm insurance rates. The future of the wind and flood insurance markets is critical to property owners, business, renters, and the entire economy of Monroe County. Michael Peltier, Media Relations manager for Citizens Property Insurance Company will be in attendance. Attendees are encouraged to share their questions and concerns about property insurance.
