Come and celebrate the Birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on the weekend designed to observe the accomplishments of the Civil Rights movement. Dinner will be served at 7 and the entertainment starts at 6 PM at the Viva Zapata Gardens 903 Duval Street Key West. This is the sixth annual event and each year it has grown more than 50%. The first event was held at the American Legion VFW building in Bahama Village. It then moved to the Casa Antigua and was gracefully hosted by Tom Oosterhoudt and Mary Ann Worth. It outgrew the Gardens at Casa Antigua after three years and then moved to the Tennessee Williams Theater Foyer and the area was packed to capacity last year. The Gardens at Viva Zapata will seat more people and its our hope to accommodate all those who would like to enjoy the evening with us. Live Steel drum performance and the Blessed Community Gospel Choir will perform during the Dinner. State attorney Catherine Voguel and The highest Ranking Staff member at the Monroe County Sheriffs Department Donna Allen-Moore will be the Guest Speakers. Dinner will be provided by Faustos Store, Blue Heaven Restaurant, Le Creperie Restaurant, New York Pizza Cafe at Duval Square, Square One Restaurant, Coconut Woman Caribbean Food, Flamingo Crossing Ice Cream and members of the community will contribute their cakes. Originally dinner was free however because of the response dinner with desert is just $10 in advance and $15. at the door. A cash bar will be available.
