Zonta 24th Annual ABC Walk/Run Fundraiser to Combat Breast Cancer
Again Gets A Boost From Pier House Partnership

Upcoming Pier House Goes PINK! Event Kicks Off Breast Cancer Awareness Month

On October 6th, the third annual Pier House Goes PINK! party and live concert on the beach will kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month and benefit the annual ABC Walk/Run fund which supports women in our community. The event will be held from 5:30 to 8:00pm at the Pier House Resort and Spa, One Duval Street, Key West.

The 24th Annual Zonta ABC 5K Run/Walk, which stands for “Awareness Breast Cancer”, will be held on November 5th this year. It raises money to provide free mammograms and other diagnostic screenings for uninsured and underinsured women in the Lower Keys.

“This is an amazing collaboration for the Zonta Club of Key West,” said club president Lisa Benfield. “We couldn’t be more thrilled with this support from the Pier House to once again help us raise funds so important to this local cause.”

The evening event is a beach party with live music by the Prime Movers. During the band break, there will be a runway fashion show coordinated by Kimber Tracy of Sargasso and Oakleigh Waits of Isle Style, with local breast cancer survivors serving as models. The event will also feature a silent auction with donations from many local businesses and a chance drawing with some fabulous prizes including a TV all donated by the Pier House Resort and Spa. And, of course, fun for all. All money raised will support the club’s “Awareness Breast Cancer” programs.

Included with a suggested donation of $10 at the door (or $5 with a donation of a new or very gently used bra) will be complimentary finger foods, happy hour prices on select drinks, and a limited beach bar menu with $5 items. The bras will be donated to FreetheGirls.org. This organization provides the bras to women who have been saved from human trafficking in Mozambique, Uganda and El Salvador allowing them to entrepreneurially start a business.
