Ayala Convicted of Aggravated Battery

ayala, lazaroOn December 15, 2015, Lazaro Ayala was convicted of Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, a second degree felony punishable by up to 15 years prison.

On May 27, 2012, at Fiesta Key RV Park, Lazaro Ayala attacked Ruben Torres with a knife, stabbing him several times.

The Honorable Ruth Becker presided over the trial in Marathon consisting of eight State’s witnesses and one Defense witness. The defendant did not testify. The case was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Colleen Reed and Anna Hubicki. The jury deliberated for 23 minutes before finding the defendant guilty as charged.

The State Attorney Office would like to thank the jury for giving up their time during the course of the two day trial.

SENTENCING IS SET FOR JANUARY 13, 2016 AT 1:30 PM
