TSKW Artist Studio Tours Comes to Stock Island
The Studios of Key West ventures off the rock to Stock Island, “the Brooklyn of Key West,” for their annual Artist Studio Tours on Saturday March 28 from 12-4pm
. Sculptor Cindy Wynn’s phantasmagorical metal shop anchors the Tour, with optional transportation to and from the Tour stops made easy by Old Town Trolley. Tickets are $20 and are on sale at tskw.org or by calling 305-296-0458. Trolley transportation is included in the ticket price.
Visitors can peer into the workspaces of Stock Island creatives including Jimmy Wray, Perry Arnold, Derek Arnold, Craig Berube Gray, Joe Jackson, Steven King, Pamela Kostmayer, Rudi Repenning, Daniel Siefert and A.D. Tinkham. Simone Lasswell and Pam Bluth of Renegade Clay and the craftsmen of Coast Projects will also be featured on the tour.
“This is a chance to go behind the scenes and explore a world you don’t usually get to see,” said Elena Devers, deputy director. “From industrial metal studios to ceramicists and craftsmen working by the sea, these Stock Island artists have created functional and fascinating spaces that stand alone as incredible works of art.”
Ticket holders can either drive to Stock Island and do a self-guided tour, or can take advantage of trolleys provided by Old Town Trolley, which pick every 45 minutes at The Studios of Key West, 533 Eaton Street. Pick up times can be found at tskw.org, and seating is limited to 40 passengers per trolley, first come, first served. A second tour trolley will do a regular loop around the five Stock Island tour stops from 12-4pm, and ticket holders can hop on and off the bus as they like.
Artists will have work available for purchase on the day of the tour, and interested collectors should plan to bring cash or a checkbook.
