The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band Hits Key West Theater this Friday

This Friday January 6, 2017 Rams Head Promotions presents The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band at Key West Theater, 512 Eaton Street.

Never one for sitting idle, The Reverend (Josh) Peyton has kicked off the new year the way he finished 2016, in a flurry of activity. They are fresh off of a US tour with old pals The Supersuckers and Jesse Dutton which featured dozens of shows across the country, just as dates for an extended European tour are starting to be announced for the summer season. The coming Key West show will be shortly followed by a jaunt to Alberta Canada.

A recent video of The Rev playing (and shooting) a custom-made shotgun guitar went so viral as to become Youtube’s #9 trending video worldwide, garnered over 4 million multi-platform views in a matter of days, and was rebroadcast on Comedy Central and online magazines of every kind. Another popular offering has been the video of Rev getting to play the National Anthem at his alma mater, Butler University.

Taking advantage of today’s online promotional opportunities has been among the tactics that has helped The Big Damn Band continue to rise in a competitive field. Other recent video releases include a version of “John Henry” in which Rev Peyton shows off his chops on no less than 18 instruments in one take. Their online podcast “Hard Times and Weirdness,” offers fans a taste of the band’s backstage and between-stage stories from the road and now has 10 episodes in the can available for online play.

Also new to the band’s Youtube page is a lyric video for The Rev’s take on a classic Furry Lewis song “When My Baby Left Me.” The video previews the forthcoming “Front Porch Sessions” release set to come out on cd and vinyl March 10.

Promotional notes describe “Front Porch Sessions” as “a rural blues masterpiece record with sparse beauty, searing fingerpicking, and plenty of slide guitar. You are transported to Rev. Peyton’s front porch, with just a small but perfect amount of Big Damn Band singing harmony on some songs and unique percussion delivered only sparingly from washboards, tambourines, suitcases, etc.

While audiences can expect a taste of the traditional, anyone who has seen The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band live will attest to the high-energy display of charisma and grit that has become the band’s trademark.
