The Lower Keys Guides Association 4th Annual Sugarloaf Showdown
Inviting all Anglers to the Sugarloaf Showdown! A weekend dedicated to showing your friends you are a better fisherman than they are, while benefitting charity. Join us while we have fun, catch and release fish, and help the fishing community this November 2-4, 2017 at the Sugarloaf Marina.
The Lower Keys Guides Association’s Sugarloaf Showdown is a catch and release inshore fishing tournament focusing on bonefish, permit and barracuda. This fundraising tournament kicks off Thursday evening with a captains’ check-in meeting at the Square Grouper Bar & Grill (22658 Overseas Highway). Fishing begins 7:30 am,Friday morning at Sugarloaf Marina (17015 Overseas Highway), and wraps up at 4 pm, Saturday. Cocktails followed by an awards banquet at the Sugarloaf Lodge Restaurant Tiki Bar will begin at 5:30 pm.
The Sugarloaf Showdown Benefit: During the awards banquet, there will be a silent auction of donated, high quality fishing gear and accessories available to the highest bidder. Proceeds from the silent auction benefit the Guides Trust Foundation, which provides emergency funds for fishing guides in the Florida Keys who have been injured or are recovering from illness. This year, the Guides Trust is diligently working to offer assistance to local guides that have been impacted by the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma.
The tournament is open to all anglers and guides. The fee is $250 per 2-person team. This team event is limited to three per boat, with only two fishing.
