“Tales From the Sea” by Berserk Bastards
In 2007 the Norwegian sailboat Berserk, a 48’ 30 ton expedition yacht with a 1.5” thick steel hull sailed through the perilous Northwest Passage from the Atlantic to the Pacific, a treacherous journey that took six months. One of the crewmen is Fred the Red, known here as the lead singer of The Berserk Bastards. While not as well known here as in their native land, where these new day Vikings thrill audiences of 30,000 and more, they rocked the island during their three-week invasion in November and December. Fred the Red has returned, gearing up for more gigs in February. But meanwhile, he will recount his experiences during this extraordinary expedition in “Tales From the Sea,” at the upstairs room of Hogs Breath Saloon, Thursday night at 9 PM. His riveting saga will be interspersed with songs written during and inspired by his adventure. Seating is limited, and tickets for this one night only show will be available at the door and in advance at Angelina’s Pizza, 208 Duval St.
