Plantation Key School Project Public Meeting Notice
The Monroe County School District will hold a second community meeting on Wednesday, December 9th from 6:00 to 7:30 pm in the Plantation Key School cafeteria. The meeting will be held to discuss the final programming that will incorporate 21st century educational principles to inform the conceptual design process for the new schools location on the current site. Zyscovich Architects will give a presentation discussing the programming, building site locations, project updates and the project
schedule. The meeting will be held in an open house format and a question and answer session will follow the presentation.
Facilities Planner Michael Skrodinsky said, “The new school will be planned for 650 student stations and will be constructed to meet or exceed all health, safety and energy codes.” The building will be designed with flexible spaces and specific programming allowing for a range of activities. The state of the art facility will include outdoor playgrounds, outdoor learning centers and a gymnasium.
There will be additional pre-construction community meetings throughout design and construction process. Superintendent Mark Porter said, “One of our goals throughout this process is to enhance our family-school relationships and to continue our partnerships that support student achievement through effective communication.”
