Library Friends Lecture at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church
Musician Larry Smith is next presenter in this season’s Friends of the Key West Library lecture series—Monday, February 23, 6:00 p.m., at the series’ temporary location, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 401 Duval St. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
Smith will talk about his career as a pianist/composer and will play all styles of music that have influenced his composing, from jazz to classical. Pianist at age 4 and professional clarinetist in his dad’s band at age 12, Smith worked the New York music scene as bandleader, side man, song writer, arranger and producer. In Key West he has played all of the island’s main music spots, from LaTeDa’s Crystal Café to the Pier House Wine Gallery. With his singer/songwriter wife Christine Cordone, he has produced the CD Key West Island Night.
The Friends of the Key West Library weekly lecture series is free and open to the public. Seating is available on a first come, first served basis. This year’s series runs consecutive Mondays, ending on March 23. Next lecturer is writer Edward Hower, March 2.
