Florida Keys Swim Club — March Short Course Junior Olympics
Seven FKSC Swimmers Compete in Short Course Junior Olympics—Two Advance
The Florida Keys Swim Club had 7 swimmers competing in the Florida Gold Coast Junior Olympics last month. Individual qualifiers were Abbie Sargent, Corley Smith, Zoe Marchetti, and Caroline Hoff. Also swimming a relay were Layne Smith, Chrislyn Lowell, and Maria Grant.
All seven swimmers were up against the best 14 &Under athletes in all of South Florida. Abbie Sargent had multiple top 5 finishes and as a result of being the fastest 9 years old at the competition, she qualified to represent Florida Gold Coast Swimming in the annual Florida Gold Coast vs Florida (the rest of the state) All Star meet in early April.
In addition to Abbie, Zoe Marchetti qualified for the Southern Sectional Championships that were held in Plantation last week.
The Sectional swim meet is the first in a series of open senior competitions. It draws top Olympic level swimmers from all over the world, who compete regardless of age. Zoe was excited to be racing against a few of her heroes including multiple Olympic medalist Missy Franklin.
