A Dance on Canvas at SALT Gallery: Painter Sally Stryker Reveals Newest Works
“Sally Stryker knows water,” says SALT Gallery owner Jeffrey Cardenas. Styker’s newest exhibit will fill the gallery’s walls with waves and sea during the month of October, with a special preview that celebrates her impressionistic style on Saturday, October 1 from 6pm-8pm.
“She knows how water embraces shadow and how it reflects light,” adds Cardenas. “Her paintings of the ocean embody a tactile essence.”
Stryker’s life in the arts began with modern dance, and her natural inclination towards movement fuses itself into her paintings in the way she captures rhythm and light across water. She has exhibited world-wide, capturing seascapes with a uniquely bold and meditative quality. With studios in East Hampton and St. Barts, the sea is the protagonist of most of her work. Though her palette may change pending which body of water she pours onto her canvas, the colors are always alive with an energy that punctuates its dance.
Styker’s work will remain on display at SALT Gallery throughout October. For more information, call 305.896.2980, or stop by SALT Gallery at 830 Fleming Street in Key West.
