In a benefit for the Conch Republic Foster Children’s Fund administered by Wesley House Family Services, Rick’s/Durty Harry’s, 202 Duval St. one of the past queens, Leigha Fox will host the Royal Investiture Party to elect a Royal Family for the Conch Republic on Saturday, April 23rd starting at 8 p.m. These funds are raised each year to pay for special items for foster children in Monroe County like, prom dresses, class rings, sports uniforms and equipment, and other items not covered by state dollars. No funds are used for administrative expenses, but go directly to the foster children in need.

Claim your position in the Conch Republic Family. Any serious or silly rank or position is acceptable, except King, Mel Fisher will always be King. In the event of multiple candidates for the lofty position of Queen and because there can only be one Queen of the Conch Republic, the candidate earning the most votes will assume the title of Queen. Others will be deemed “Queen(s) in Waiting.”

You can run for one of the Royal Titles: Queen, Royal Banker, Royal Bartender, Royal Attorney, or Royall Realtor, or pick a title of your own. Any silly or serious rank or position is acceptable. In years past positions have been held as “Royal Pistol”, “Duchess of Dingbats”, “Empress Knowsitall”, “Princess of Prevention” and the “Royal Deck Swabber”.

Wesley House asks the community to rise to the challenge by running as a Royal Family candidate! To request an application for candidacy or for more information, please visit www.welseyhouse.org or contact Claire Hiller at [email protected], or call 305-809-5000.
