Celebrating 20 Years of Giving
Mayor Craig Cates and the City Commission this week celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Community Foundation of the Florida Keys.
“Our strong and vibrant community is fortunate to have the Community Foundation of the Florida Keys here,” reads the proclamation, “serving for the past 20 years as the community resource for collective giving and working every day to inspire philanthropy, improve the quality of life, strengthen nonprofits, foster collaboration, and provide leadership in the Florida Keys.”
During those years, the Community Foundation has awarded more than $21 million in grants and program services through the generosity of its philanthropic partners, positively affecting thousands of people in need in all areas of our community, including health and human services, education, environment, arts and culture, and much more.
“By this proclamation we hereby join in celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Community Foundation of the Florida Keys supporting the generous giving spirit of our community and believing that through collective giving and working together we can indeed build a better future.”
Foundation Chairman Roger Heinen thanked the Commissioner and the Mayor and added, “And we hope to be with you all for several hundred more [years].”
