“Hedwig and the Angry Inch” Opens at the Key West Theater, Dec. 26
Brilliantly innovative, heartbreaking, and wickedly funny, the Tony Award-winning “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” by John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask opens this month at the Key West Theater. This genre-bending, fourth-wall-smashing musical sensation, with a pulsing score and electrifying performances, tells the story of rock-n-roll lead singer Hedwig, one of the most unique characters to ever hit the stage.
Key West Theater’s production is helmed by director/choreographer Andrew Palermo, who recently choreographed the musical “Allegiance” on Broadway, starring George Takei and Lea Salonga. Key West audience favorites Phillip Cole White and Alexandra Zeto play Hedwig and Yitzhak, respectively, and the multi-talented music director Tim Peterson, along with members of hot local band Patrick and the Swayzees Jerrod Isaman, Eric Tyler McHone, and Patrick Stecher, make up the on-stage band. Roger Hultman, otherwise known as drag performer “Inga” at Aqua Nightclub, is creating the one-of-a-kind costumes for the show. “I’m so excited to help this team bring this story to life,” says artistic director Juliet Gray. “At the Key West Theater, we are drawn to stories with heart that also resonate with the underdog in all of us. And Hedwig is the perfect example of that.”
“Hedwig and the Angry Inch” opens December 26th and runs through January 13th at the Key West Theater, 512 Eaton Street in Old Town.
