Holiday Open House Features Key West Oil Paintings by Stephen LaPierre
Dec 20th Sunday 2-6 PM, 925 Eaton Street
Key West oil painter and musician Stephen LaPierre will hold his annual Holiday Open Studio and Fine Art Sale, Sunday 2-6 PM at 925 Eaton Street. LaPierre, known for his plein air paintings that capture Key West’s architecture and culture, circa 2015, will also introduce fine art patrons and friends to his new studio-based clown series and offer his Key West sketch collection of Simonton Street sunsets and favorite Key West beach scenes.
Since rolling into town in the Spring of 2010, LaPierre, a student of the late New England painter Don Stone and the Massachusetts College of Art, has extensively documented Key West’s night life and sunlight in his distinctive Ash Can School whimsical style. His Key West work has already received the highest honor given to a local working artist, a one man show in the main gallery of the Custom House Museum. “My Key West Plein Air Novel” attracted a record breaking 550 art lovers and friends to the exhibit’s Opening Reception in December 2012, continuing into February of 2013. His second one-man Key West show, “A Tale of Two Cities: La Habana and Key West,” held at The Tropic in February of 2014, again attracted record crowds with an exhibit of his newest Key West pieces, along with selected Havana cityscapes.
