LWV Socials Continue
The Fifth Tuesday socials sponsored by the Lower Keys League of Women Voters continue on June 30 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at New York Pasta Garden in Duval Square.
President Joan Wallin and Treasurer Sandy Bergin will be on hand to report on their adventures at the recent convention of the Florida League of Women Voters.
“Come celebrate our legislative victories and learn about what more needs to be done to accomplish League legislative priorities,” said Wallin. “While the 2015 Legislative session just ended, the League of Women Voters of Florida is preparing for the 2016 Legislative session that begins in January rather than March next year. You will have an opportunity to help shape the League’s 2016 legislative priorities,” which are due by August 1.
“Several new initiatives came out of the 2015 League Convention in Del Ray,” she continued. “Convention delegates Sandy Bergin and I will explain actions taken by convention delegates including an Open Primary study and a Solar Power Amendment initiative.”
The social, which includes light refreshments and a cash bar, is open to any women and men in the community with an interest in the League. Current and prospective members are especially welcome to attend. Dues will be accepted at the meeting.
