City Manager Jim Scholl this month presented a gold watch to Facility Maintenance Supervisor Brett Wright in recognition of his 20 years of dedicated service to the City of Key West.

Wright was hired in 1994 as an instrumentation and control technician at the former waste-to-energy plant on Stock Island. When it closed, he transferred to facilities maintenance and was promoted to supervisor in 2009.

Wright is responsible for the maintenance of 80 various facilities, buildings, and parks across the city. In 2005 he was awarded a City commendation for the expedient repair of the City Hall emergency generator during a hurricane.

“I want to thank the commission and the citizens of Key West,” Wright said as he accepted the recognition for his 20 years of service. “It truly is an honor to work for the City of Key West. When I was hired, I was at the old building – the Madeline Bean Building — and I went into HR and I was so proud to be able to say that I worked for the City. And I still am.”
