The Florida Department of Health Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) Program, in partnership with the Florida Keys Healthy Start Coalition, hosted the Big Latch On in Islamorada and Key West last weekend. Nine babies in Monroe County successfully latched on with 17,223 other babies around the world, breaking the worldwide breastfeeding record.

The Big Latch On supports communities with identifying and growing opportunities to provide ongoing breastfeeding support and promotion. The event was part of World Breastfeeding Week, a global effort led by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action, to help raise awareness about the benefits of breastfeeding.
