Do you have expired or unwanted medications? The Key West Police Department, in conjunction with the DEA will participate in a Prescription Drug Take Back to get these prescriptions safely out of your home.

On Saturday, October 22nd from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. you can bring these unwanted medications to the Key West Police Department at 1604 North Roosevelt Blvd. for safe disposal. Officers will be stationed in the front lobby to accept the medications free of charge with no questions asked.

This is a national event aimed at getting dangerous drugs destroyed safely. According to the DEA, 6.4 million Americans age 12 and over abuse prescription drugs. The majority of prescription drug abusers report that they obtain their drugs from friends and family, including from the home medicine cabinet. This effort is aimed at helping reduce the problem while providing an easy and environmentally sound means of disposal.
