SALT Gallery Presents “Sunny Side of the Street”: Opening Reception Nov. 3

For the month of November, SALT Gallery (830 Fleming St., www.saltislandprovisions.com) will feature “Sunny Side of the Street”, a new collection of light and loose ink drawings by local artist Judi Bradford. To celebrate the opening of the show, SALT will be hosting an opening reception at the gallery from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3rd.

Judi’s lively and playful ink drawings capture the characters, nature, and street corners of Key West. She brings a history of graphic arts and comic drawing to these new views of her favorite island.

Judi was a graphic illustrator back in the dip pen and ink pot days before digital design. She penned “Lizard Licks”, a Key West editorial comic strip in the early Solares Hill newspaper.

Now Judi returns to ink, elated with the discovery of modern fountain pens and inks. “The new water brushes and other tools make drawing all fun and easy,” she says.

Schlepping drawings and framing materials and tools with her during her Hurricane Irma evacuation, Judi managed to get everything back to “the appearance of normal” in time to hang these works at SALT.

“Judi’s works are emblematic of everything we love about Key West – they are colorful, whimsical, and celebratory of the loose tropical style we embrace living down here,” says gallery owner Laura Richardson. “They evoke the simplicity of island living while still exhibiting the vibrancy and movement that many associate with the Florida Keys. We’re very excited to have Judi’s pieces grace our walls at SALT.”

SALT Gallery is an eclectic collection of local art, local sea salts, jewelry, pottery, wine, and Florida Keys honey. Gallery owners Maria Sharpe and Laura Richardson feature a new artist each month at SALT. Judi’s work will remain on display until Nov. 30th. For more information, call 305.517.6088 or visit www.saltislandprovisions.com.
