Originally scheduled for January 27, now set for 10:00am departure, Saturday, February 10: Noted archaeologist and Mel Fisher Maritime Museum curator Corey Malcom, Ph.D., will lead the first of a series of three historically illuminating 90-minute seafaring excursions presented by Key West Art & Historical Society in partnership with Hindu Charters.
Passengers aboard the beautifully restored 79’ wooden sailing schooner Hindu, which launches from Key West Bight Marina, can enjoy mimosas or non-alcoholic beverages and salt spray as Dr. Malcom shares the historic back-story and personal insights on the day’s topic, “The Historic Seaport, Key West Bight.”
The other two upcoming tours on the 93-year-old vessel are “Porter and the Pirates,” presented by Society curator Cori Convertito, Ph.D., on Saturday, February 24, and “Coastal Fortifications in the Florida Keys,” presented by Kelly Clark, NPS, on Saturday, March 31. Tickets are $50 for Society Members, $60 for non-members. Space is limited to 25 passengers, so early registration is urged. Sponsored in part by the Helmerich Trust and the Florida Department of State.
