What does the Pro Bono Legal Clinic cover?

• Small Claims Court matters which involve disputes of $5,000 or less.
• Landlord Tenant issues such as evictions or poor housing conditions.
• Simple Divorces
• Simple Probate

How Do I Get an Appointment to Attend a Clinic?

• Appointments are scheduled by phone. To make an appointment, call 1-877- 715-7464
• You will be scheduled for the clinic if there is availability. Space is limited so do not delay in calling for your appointment.
• Once you have an appointment, come to the Freeman Justice Center located at 302 Fleming Street at 9:00 a.m. on the date of your scheduled clinic. At that time you will be asked to sign in. People will be seen by the private attorneys in the order in which they sign in.
• If you are unable to keep your appointment, call the 1-877-715-7464, to cancel your appointment. This is important so your appointment can be given to someone else.

What Help WILL Be Provided at the Clinic?

• An attorney will meet with you to talk about your case.
• An attorney will give you information about court and what to expect when you go to Court.
• An attorney will tell you how to complete legal forms and papers.
• An attorney will tell you how to file your lawsuit and serve the other side.
• An attorney will advise you on how to present your evidence to the Court and prove your case.
• An attorney will discuss possible ways to settle your case.

What Help WILL NOT Be Provided at the Clinic?

• An attorney will not go to Court with you to represent you at your hearing.
• If you decide you want a lawyer to go to Court with you, call the Florida Bar Referral Service at (800) 342-8011 for the name of a lawyer in your area. If you are low-income, ask for a lawyer on the low fee panel who will charge you a reduced fee.
• An attorney will not write or talk to the other side to help you settle your case.
• An attorney will not provide any legal service other than to advise you during your Clinic appointment.
