The Monroe County School District will hold a community meeting on Thursday, November 12 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm in the Plantation Key School Cafeteria. The meeting will be held to discuss programming the school according to 21st century educational principles. Zyscovich Architects will give a presentation discussing the programming, project updates and the project schedule. The meeting will be held in an open house format and a question and answer session will follow the presentation.

Facilities Planner Michael Skrodinsky said, the new school will be planned for 650 student stations. This school will be constructed to meet or exceed all health, safety and energy codes. The building will be designed with flexible spaces and specific programming allowing for a range of activities.

There will be additional pre-construction community meetings throughout design and construction process. Superintendent Mark Porter said, “One of our goals throughout this process is to strengthen our family-school relationships and to continue our partnerships that support student achievement through effective communication.”
