mask-makingThe ceramics club of the Florida Keys Community College continues its tradition of raising funds through pairing pottery with food. Dinner will be served accompanied by the music of the Marty Stonely Band on Friday, February 19th, 6-10pm at the Stock Island campus near the Jay Gogin Memorial Fountain. Select your souvenir bowl produced on-site and fill it with your buffet meal; dishes will range from roast pork to vegan.

Funds raised are used to maintain and augment equipment at the ceramics studio, enriching the students’ experience. Potters and artists of all ages are welcome to participate in classes offered by Ann Labriola, who took on the role of head artist after Jay’s passing.

The entire process of creating in clay happens at the studio, from mixing clay and formulating glazes to firing in the huge cone-10 gas kilns or the raku pit. Other pieces of pottery and objets d’art produced at FKCC will also be available for purchase at the dinner. Tickets are $30 in advance at keystix.com or the Ceramics Dept.; $35 at the dinner.
