Lt. Bogoeff Named Firefighter of the Year 2016

Key West Fire Chief Michael Davila announced the Firefighter of the Year for 2016 at the December Key West Chamber of Commerce luncheon.

Lt. Jason Bogoeff has served since January of 2006. During his decade with the City, Lt. Bogoeff has demonstrated an outstanding work ethic and an unwavering positive attitude toward both fellow firefighters and citizens in the community. He was a member of the first Fire Academy before being hired and continued his education, eventually becoming certified in almost every team provided by the Key West Fire Department.

In March of 2015, Lt. Bogoeff was promoted from Firefighter to Rescue Lieutenant, he was involved in the initial start-up successfully bringing emergency medical services in-house April 1st 2015. The Lieutenants are vital to the success of the EMS division as they are constant providers of leadership and quality control. , Lt. Bogoeff assisted in the development of the division resulting in a successful transition from private ambulance service to the Key West Fire Department operation.

“Called upon numerous times to go above and beyond normal duty assignments, Jason has participated to assist the department in fulfilling its mission,” said Chief Davila. “Jason Bogoeff played an essential part in the Key West Fire Department becoming a Class 1 Fire Department as one of the three Lieutenants and leaders in our EMS division. He assisted with training cadets and has been the union president for several years.”
