Locals and visitors celebrated the 125th anniversary of the Custom House Wednesday, November 30, at ‘Back in Time,’ a formal fundraiser with a history twist, presented by the Key West Art & Historical Society, steward of the historic landmark building. The evening of stylish revelry and eclectic festivities featured a cocktail reception on the elegant Custom House veranda with performers and musicians providing entertainment, followed by a red carpet promenade to the Westin Resort for a sit-down dinner with an auction, live music and presentation of the first Scotti Merrill Preservation Award, honoring Dogwood Foundation founder Scotti Merrill in memoriam for her pioneering efforts and leadership in preserving the Custom House. Proceeds from the party support the ongoing preservation needs of the building known as the ‘architectural crown jewel of Key West.’
