Keys United Way Supports Nonprofits Building Stronger Community

United Way of the Florida Keys has continued to implement its vision of supporting families in the Florida Keys, according to the agency’s 2014 Annual Report released today. A total of $353,895 was raised in last year’s United Way charitable campaign. “Most of these donations were payroll deductions from generous Keys residents,” said Kate Bauer-Jones, United Way President / CEO. “Thanks to our donors’ generosity, we were able to support 13 nonprofit agencies that provide critical services to our Keys neighbors in need.”

The United Way Annual Report covers the year-long campaign that ended June 30, 2014. Publix Supermarkets was the biggest company donor for that campaign, with donations totaling $120,983. The largest increase in United Way donations came from the Florida Keys Electric Cooperative, which moved from ninth to fifth place in the top 20 companies. FKEC employees donated $14,758 in last year’s campaign—an increase of 68% over the previous campaign. The Annual Report also lists the names of 58 “Leadership Donors” who contributed $1,000 or more during the campaign.

United Way of the Florida Keys is an independent, local 501(c)(3) organization that has been supporting the Keys community for more than 30 years. Money raised in the Keys stays in the Keys. To obtain a copy of the 2014 Annual Report, please visit our website, www.keysunitedway.org.
