Key West Transit Director Norman Whitaker and Grants Manager Carolyn Haia recently attended the annual Florida Public Transportation Association (FPTA) conference in Daytona, Florida.

During the combined conference and training, Haia was recognized for completing the three month Florida Department of Transportation sponsored Drug and Alcohol Manager Certificate Program.

Key West Transit Lead Bus Maintenance Technician Shane Harmon also attended. He was one of just nine individuals who were nominated for FDOT’s recognition as the number one bus maintenance technician in the State of Florida.

“Although Shane was not selected this year, Key West Transit is both fortunate and happy to have him on our team of dedicated employees,” said Whitaker.

The conference was also the first time in several years Key West Transit entered the FPTA State of Florida’s Marketing and Promotional contest. The city competed in printed, web based, radio, and television commercials.
