Fran Ford Honored

Key West Garden Club members Elizabeth Ignoffo and Ann Reynolds, Key West Audubon’s Dr. Mark Whiteside, Mayor Craig Cates, and Commissioners Clayton Lopez and Jimmy Weekley honoring Fran Ford for her amazing dedication to the island’s environment.

Mayor Craig Cates and Commissioners Jimmy Weekley and Clayton Lopez joined together to recognize the tireless environmental efforts of Fran Ford.

Ford, a long-time Key West resident, has dedicated years of hard work to environmental education and preservation. She was instrumental in founding the Florida Keys Audubon Society and the Florida Keys Land and Sea Trust. She has been active for many years with the Monroe County Environmental Education Advisory Council, the Key West Garden Club and the Botanical Garden Society.

“Mrs. Ford has had numerous accomplishments in fostering the environmental life and health of the Florida Keys and Key West,” read the proclamation, which set aside February 7th as Fran Ford Day.
