Nationally-known comedian Gene Merola is coming to Key West and the Florida Keys Democrats are hosting him on February 1st, from 6:00- 10:00 PM, at the Side Bar, 504 Angela Street. Andy Griffith, local comedian and politician, is the opening act and will add a Key West tone to the evening’s entertainment.

Whether opening for performers like Jerry Seinfeld, Hall & Oates, and Paula Poundstone or taking his own shows to many of the major cruise lines, Mr. Merola brings high energy and comedy that features audience participation, music, and creative improvisation.

We invite Keys residents from “both sides of the aisle,” and all places in between, to join us for an evening of laughter, cocktails and light bites.

After six years as a Southern Florida entertainment icon, Gene Merola took his wild and fun-filled comedy romps to stages in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Aspen and Cape Cod, with Las Vegas Today describing him as “a master of rapid fire one-liners.” In addition to club appearances, Gene has also entertained the sports industry, being a roastmaster for private functions for the New York Yankees, the St. Louis Cardinals, the Baltimore Orioles and the NFL Alumni Association.
