‘Fish With a Hero’ to Host Wounded Vets and Volunteers from ‘Heroes on the Water’ at BPK Fishing Lodge, Dec 6-10

Fish With a Hero will be hosting 19 wounded veterans from Heroes on the Water at the Big Pine Key Fishing Lodge from Thursday, December 6th through Monday, December 10th.

Event participants will be fishing out of the Big Pine Key Fishing Lodge on kayaks to help reduce the impact of post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injury while receiving the benefits of camaraderie and community support.

Major sponsors of this event include Big Pine Key Fishing Lodge, Chapman and Cardwell Capital Management, the Marathon Rotary Club, and Monroe Marauders Military Vehicle Club.

There will be a Heroes Welcome Dinner and Reception held at Boondocks Restaurant (27205 Overseas Hwy, Ramrod Key, FL 33042) on Saturday, December 8th, starting at 6 PM. All members of the Keys community are invited to attend the dinner and reception for a donation of $20 and an advance RSVP to (305) 942-9678 as a way to show support for our nation’s military heroes.

“We want to encourage the Keys community to attend the Heroes Welcome Dinner and Reception since it will be a great opportunity to meet the participating veterans,” says Larry Kendzior, Executive Director of Fish with a Hero. “Events such as this joint effort between Fish With a Hero and Heroes on the Water provide therapeutic fishing experiences to reduce the impact of post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injury,” adds Kendzior.
