Tickets are now available for the Donavon Frankenreiter show to take place on Sunday, August 30 at historic Fort East Martello. The pro surfer-turned musician will send out his breezy, laid-back acoustic vibes and upbeat lyrics in an early evening concert on the fort’s parade grounds at 3501 S. Roosevelt Blvd.

The family-friendly event is part of the Music at Martello Series— a program established by Key West Art & Historical Society to promote the arts and bring live music to the Keys— and is produced by KWAHS in partnership with Key West Concert producers Evan Haskell and Marky Pierson.

“Donovan’s music is a great fit for our community,” says Haskell. “His folky, island vibe and ability to entertain and connect with an audience makes him a very popular performer among a wide span of ages. Even my kids really like him.”

Frankenreiter’s concerts are known for his “feel-good” music and relaxed atmosphere that also ramps up at times for upbeat dancing in front of the stage. He will perform from nearly ten years of solo hit recordings including his May 2015 release “The Heart”. The event also features young Australian Cody Simpson and his recent record release “Free”, an effort Frankenreiter contributed to. Simpson’s style blends the acoustic smooth surf sound with a catchy, pop rock flair.

Concertgoers are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets for the “backyard casual” setup that will include some hay bale seating, food, beer, and wine from some of “Key West’s best,” says Haskell.

“I’m excited to bring live music back to Fort East Martello,” says Haskell. “I grew up here and have fond memories of going to many great events in that space. The site provides history, ample parking, beautiful sunsets and ocean breezes. It really is a great space and we’re looking forward to seeing everyone there.”

Portions of the concert’s proceeds, which is sponsored in part by Florida Keys Media, We Cycle, and WonderDog Productions, will help support KWAHS’s community outreach and educational programs. The concert is expected to sell out; advanced discounted ticket purchase is available at www.KeyWestConcerts.com for $25.

Doors open at 4:30; the opening show starts at 5:45 and will continue through twilight. Tickets purchased on site are $30, children under 12 are free. Key West Art & Historical Society members can call 305.295.6616 x 106 for special member-priced tickets and to join KWAHS to receive member benefits.

Parking will be available for $5, bike parking is free. For more information call 305.295.6616 x 106 or visit KWAHS.ORG.
