Experts Share Ideas at Fantasy Fest Parade Design Workshop

If you are thinking of building a float for the 2017 Bud Light Fantasy Fest Parade – and you should be! – reserve a space now for the Parade Design Workshop August 27 at The Studios of Key West.

The Design Workshop puts you in a room with imaginative yet practical experts—parade and float designers who have hit the pinnacle of crowd pleasing and won awards in the past! This year’s panelists include Marky Pierson, Bob and Sue D’Antonio, Rochelle Eannarino and Sugar Kirk.

Marky Pierson is an artist, entrepreneur and creative wizard who produces popular Key West events including the Zombie Bike Ride, The Cow Key Channel Zero K Bridge Run, the Papio Kinetic Sculpture Parade and Bettie Page Tribute Party, and various burlesque shows and other events.

The D’Antonios have won too many awards to list for their trademark hand-made, human-powered floats with clever mechanical movements and animations, as well as colorful well-crafted decorations.

Rochelle Eannarino and Jeff Martin as “The Minions of Key West,” have also been perennial winners in the parade and last year won the Local’s Favorite Award with their Beowulf float, fashioned mostly out of common household materials.  This duo can work magic with anything from bedsheets to garbage can lids.

“Red, White and Blu-Doo” by the Key West Yacht Club won the Grand Prize in last year’s parade and Sugar Kirk will be at the workshop to reveal tips on how they did it.  Their float was a masterpiece of color management and lively costumed participants.

Register now for the workshop held at The Studios of Key West, 5 to 7 pm, Sunday, August 27.  Sign up online at https://tskw.org/fantasy-fest- parade-float-design-workshop/or call 305-296-0458.
